Alestalo farm

Since 1709

History

Alestalo ja Ylitalo

The current families – Alestalo and Ylitalo – have been managing farm in Sarva  since 1709. At that time Matti Mikonpoika was the host. His wife was Maija. According to the church records there were at least four children: Simo, Matti, Adam and Esko.

After four generations in the 1820s, Sarva was divided into two farms, later named Ylitalo and Alitalo. Antti Kustaa  Antinpoika first started using the Alestalo name at the end of the 19th century.

Antti Kustaa’s oldest son was Emil and the other children were Edvard, Hilma, Hilja, Aina, Kustaa Anselmi and Helmi. His eldest son Emil inhereted the farm.

Edvard and the other siblings left Sarva except , Kustaa Anselm, who stayed in the house to live in his brother’s household. Edvard influenced the Helsinki region as a builder. Hilma was married to Otto Uljas Kemiläinen in Alestalo Hall on November 11, 1909. After that the couple settled in Varkaus. Hilja moved into Vyborg. Aina got married with Väinö Laine from Padasjoki. The family later moved into Vyborg.

Emil’s only son, Eino, was the host for the longest time anyone, 50 years. After Eino, the ownership of the farm  has been transferred to Edvard Alestalo’s grandson: Kalevi and his sons Aleksi and Antti.

Eino’s spouse and the lady of the house Liisa Alestalo f. Taarasti lives and hosts the farm’s main building and courtyard.
